I bought a packet of jalapeño seeds from wal mart (jalapeño m from Burpee) and two of the plants I am growing seem to be creating multiple shoots. I planted 2 seeds per pot and they both grew and i pulled the weaker in all pots leaving only one and all the intended plants are 2 months from seed. But 2 of my plants keep having little seedlings pop up, and they have the same pointy shape as pepper seedlings. One plant has been very prolific in this regard, made 2 which I pulled and a couple weeks later has made another following an up potting into a brand new container with brand new soil. The other plant made 3 all at once but hasn't grown more since then.

I once had a tree that made new shoots pop up all over the yard but we were told by a tree Doctor that it was technically the same tree and that a combination of genetics and stress caused it to create suckers around the yard. Can jalapeños do this? Is this what is happening? We have an indoor setup which has been very effective for most plants, but could it be that this set of genetics feels stressed inside? Or could it be that the set of roots from the pulled second plants just hasn't died?
