My method of labelling is different but it works for me. I wanted something that would last, cheap, not easily knocked out or frost heaved, easily read, low to the ground and vertical. I use the touch labeller also. The labeller is cheap but the replacement tapes are not so I change the menu on it to give me the least amount of border. I still need to trim the edges but not as much. I print the label and stick it to a reclaimed stainless steel dinner knife blade. The prices of these vary depending on the store but I have found second hand stores where I can purchase for about .10 cents each. I push the handle of the knife into the ground and, for most, that is about 4 inches. At this point, I have about 300 around my gardens, mainly for the daylilies but also some irises. They have been through 2 winters already. I have tried different methods for labelling but this has been the best solution so far. Plus, when I am no longer gardening, the metal can be recycled.
