Lilacs failing to bloom is a common problem, I don't think the daylilies would cause it, it's more lkely that the lilac would stop them from blooming. You have a number of brown leaves on the lilac though, so it doesn't look entirely happy. Maybe that's because the soil is too dry?

Have you pruned or fertilized the lilac since it bloomed last year?
