I see that I forgot to mention that this is in a fairly shady spot.
Agree that it reminds one of agave or yucca (my 1st 2 guesses years ago as well as locals), especially since I'm in Texas. But we all decided 'no'.
The flaccid leaf yucca could be. Will have to see other pics b/c I can't tell if the 1 pic in the database shows some yellow/gold due to lighting or nature.
I would love it if it turns out to be a Dracaena aletriformis b/c the blooms are gorgeous. Leaves seem too wide.
Am I getting picky now?
At first I thought Phormium tenax 'Atropurpureum' (New Zealand Flax) was a winner until I read that it had chocolate leaves. Did they mean as in 'tastes like' or 'looks like'?
Too muddy (and too late) to go outside now. Will try to measure (hadn't occurred to me) and hope for better pictures (glaucoma doesn't help). I haven't bothered with it for years. If memory serves, and it might not, the plant might have a taproot. Probably did and that's why I left it alone. Doubt if I've ever fed it.
I love you all for all of these suggestions. I think I might have to give Google a workout.
Stay tuned.
