Those are the sweet potato tubers from your sweet potato plant with the ornamental chartreuse foliage. You can save the tubers inside over winter and plant them out again next spring if you like. Many of the plants that are sold as "annuals" are actually perennials that aren't hardy in colder climates (like your sweet potato vine.)
