Southeast Asia and India use hot peppers. as you go further north into China and Korea, moderately hot peppers, Japan prefers sweet peppers. Shishito which is similar to the Spanish Padron, Fushimi, Himo Togarashi, Mangani,. Japan does have some moderately hot varieties like Sapporo, Takanotsume, Yatsufusa.
For real hot peppers tho. look for Thai and Indian varieties.
