I bought a few of these last year for daylilies, in 2-gallon, 3-gallon and 5-gallon size. The tan color blends in well with their surroundings, and I liked the idea of better aeration. So far they seem to be pretty tough, but in my arid climate they dry out quickly. l put saucers under them to keep the plants from rooting through to the earth below, and to supply a small amount of extra water. I suspect that the root tips are dying when they reach the sides of the pot. A fibrous-rooted plant might do better in them. I'll still use the ones I have left, but ironically, I think that I might have to line their sides with plastic. Shrug!
