I was walking in the woods today and I found some acorns on the ground. I couldn't recognize any trees around since the brush was so thick and it was getting late, but I did notice none of the acorns had caps on them! They are a very dark brown (possibly even black) and are nearly white where the cap should be. Some of them do have a light brown discoloration though. They are shiny, not matte, and have no hairs. I have never seen anything like these before! Can someone help identify it?
