Jim, Love that Tiger Moth caterpillar. He IS an unusual color!!! Wonder why? Mine here this year are all redheads so far:

A few days ago I spotted some large frass pellets and thinking it was from the huge Black Walnut tree above, I took pics and tried to imagine what large moth cat could be over my head.

Right away I looked at the photo on my phone to see if was blurry like it so often is ,,,,but then I spotted something over to the far left. Well
The culprit was practically right under my nose :

And now for the sad but still happy parting. This was my last Monarch butterfly released last week. Since David named his "Only child" Alpha, I'm going to name this last of the many Monarch children, this strapping large male, "Omega"

"My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished." — Mary Oliver, from Messenger
