Hi everyone,
I'm about to purchase several roses but the thing is my garden is rather small. I want to plant two roses next to my deck, like a hedge. The three roses I'm most interested in are David Austin's Princess Anne, and Golden celebration or The Poet's wife (I still can't choose between the two.)
Golden Celebration's width is 4ft and The Poet's wife is 3.5ft. The Poet's wife has a low, naturally rounded growth. They are too broad and a bit too tall for my garden, but I was wondering if by pruning them to 1ft tall or so each year the size can be managed. I never had roses before. Are they going to make huge shoots nonetheless even if I prune them low? Is it going to affect the blooming? Thank you very much in advance, you advice is much needed.
