Rebekah!!!! Another light blue iris that I absolutely love is Navajo Jewel. The color is so unusual. I agree with the Big Box store Irises. I don't even try anymore because I just get sad when what I thought I was getting turns out to be something totally different and something I would have never picked. And also ordering directly from the vendor also provides you such healthier plants (well that's my opinion).
Also, I find the Acidic soil info on this thread very helpful. My soil leans Alkaline and I know we really can't even grow Blue Hydrangea's here without adding additives to up the Acid level but here is the good news....I have grown blue irises. Many are not blue but then all of a sudden you find that one cultivar that despite the Alkaline still shines through true blue. So enjoy the adventure of finding those that are blue for you.
