I spent the entire day out in the OC and discovered an infestation of soft scale. The more I looked, the worse it became. I wound up pitching about 40 plants and many others got a soaking in 3 gallons of water with Orthene. Talk about a big stink but it was the only way for me to be sure the medium was clean. With my schedule and the heat of the summer, I just didn't get out there enough. It is a good time to clean, spray and wash the windows. I think I had too many orchids anyhow. When they are all crowded up, it reduces the air circulation and it is hard to see the sneaky scale. Besides, Rafael's sale is next weekend and the November Apopka trip can't be far off. I need the space. The garden club will meet here next Thursday and the Orchid club board meeting is here the first week of December. Time to clean and organize.

Elaine, will you be here for Rafael's sale? Lindsey and I will probably come down.
