You have my sympathies! After a massive grasshopper invasion in the summers of 2013 and 2014 (hot and dry years), they're #1 on my most-hated garden pest list. The only upside was I had a lot of free food for the chickens. Then after a cold 2014-2015 winter followed by a lot of rain since, their cycle was broken and I now only see a few here or there (and when I do, they get caught and tossed to the chickens...even one potential egg laying hopper is too much for me).
