The surgeon's surgery coordinator said that they got whatever approval they needed from the insurance company. Since I've already spent so much on health care this year, I've met my deductible and out-of-pocket maximum for this year, so the insurance company will pay for the upper lid surgery as it is considered medically necessary. However, I'll pay for the lower lids.
I don't know how you health care is in Canada, but medical costs in the U.S. are just outrageous in the last few years.
