This was growing in a moist area at the end of a roof drain gutter. My Pop dug it up before winter last year and put it in a pot. It has grown about 5-6 inches both years and is just under a foot now. Leaves are leathery glossy green, they are slightly lighter green underneath and duller. The upper leaves are 7 inches long, lower about 4-5 inches smooth margin, and I don't detect a scent when crushing leaves.

Our thought was some kind of Bay/Magnolia???
