This piece is made for a 12 inch plastic planter pot. The one shown is the "Newbury" 12 inch pot from Home Depot. It's also a perfect fit for the "Suncast" 12 inch planter pot from Walmart. I've used the 12 inch planter pots like this successfully to grow parsley, cilantro, sage, (all outdoors), as well as sweet peppers (both outdoors and indoors).

I believe (I haven't tried this one), it will also fit very well with a 10 inch clay terra cotta pot on a saucer. Most of my creations will fit the next size down on a terra cotta clay pot on a saucer (with rocks or marbles between the saucer and the pot for improved drainage).

Here's a closer up picture of the light fixture and the top part of the piece:

Here's the basket/bottom detail, showing how the pot sits in the piece.

This piece has a built in light fixture for a PAR-38 (4-3/4") "spot light". The distance from the light to the top edge of the pot is about 22 inches. A 25-30 degree beam angle "spot" lamp is best for this piece. It's shown in the picture with a 30 degree beam blue/white "aquarium" light from ABI that I got through Amazon.com. I'm hoping that light will be more successful with leafy herbs. I'm trying sage, cilantro and parsley in this pot. I just planted the seeds a few days ago.

For peppers or other blooming/blossoming/fruiting plants, you can use a "bloomin' purple" AKA "blurple" grow light. I've had good luck with the 18W unit from ABI, also available through Amazon.

If you want a more conventional, whiter light, the Cree 25 degree spot light (120W equivalent, 1500 lumens, bright white) also fits perfectly in the terracotta pot "fixture" at the top. That light is available from Home Depot as well as from online sources like amazon.

I can custom make one for you. The price is $85, and does not include the light bulb or the large planter pot at the bottom. I'll be back in a bit with a picture of exactly what you get. I can make it in green twine/rope as shown, or in "natural" jute, which is a more yellow/beige shade of twine.

Treemail me for details if you're interested.

If you need a hanging planter in a different size or design, with or without a built in grow light fixture, please treemail me about that as well. I can get you a quote for other sizes/options.
