Another diy use for fresh aloe vera 'gel' (or goop) is as a substitute for rooting hormone powder or dip. Just dip and swirl the cut end into the fresh aloe gel instead of the powders and dips you purchase pre-made, and use a dibber or other utensil to make a hole in your potting medium before inserting (helps the gel stay on the cutting). Just a tip I learned somewhere along the way.
