Hello Philip, that is an aqua stone humidifier. I was experimenting before if it will help increase humidity levels around the room, for the plants, especially for my orchids hiding there as well during winter. I know plants grouped together creates its own humidity, but just wanted to add another passive source,not too intense humidity that I might culture molds here instead.

Unfortunately, I often forget to refill the bowl,...oops..but it does absorb water and release them very slowly in the air.
