My opinion, is your personal preference. It's your garden so plant how you like. The one thing to consider is that if you plant lilies in mixed gardens, that the companion plants of lilies have a shallow root system. Along with the same requirements and will not rob nutrients from the lily. And keep lilies away from roses as well. Reason is roses attract aphids, aphids transmit diseases
