It does look like an Aspidistra elatior. I also just recently acquired one, but a variegated version. Quite a no fuss plant, I read not to disturb during repot, so I carefully repotted, watered thoroughly once and left it alone. Now it is just Mother Nature caring for it outdoors in shade, but beside our house. I love the plant, cast iron indeed, no fuss, it did have some drying out at some leaf tips when I initially acquired it, but it has not spread, so I think it was just like sunburn at the nursery when I got it.
Give it time to adjust. It does take its sweet time.
