I just heard on the radio this morning that the Texas extension service (or Agrilife- whatever they call it now) is recommending that we sell all our stock and put the money in savings until the endless drought is over, then buy new cows. They believe it will result in a significant saving over trying to maintain our herds when there is no grass and scarce hay! Some families have spent over a generation building the genetics they want in their herds - not easily replaced. Quite distressing - depressing!
