Without knowing exactly what they are it's difficult to know how they would fare indoors. My suggestion would be to post pictures of them here if you can so that we can identify them, or else just try them indoors. I'm guessing the ivy is likely to do better in a house than the dianthus, and some dianthus don't live long in any case.
