Rosie ours has a built in LP propane tank that has to be filled by people trained to do the filling it is not something you can do yourself. They have large propane tanks they use to fill yours they are usually located at places that sell propane sometimes campgrounds also have them. I am not sure if some RV's use portable tanks that you switch out.
