Thanks for the suggestion Cindy. Fortunately we don't have bears or other critters which could have caused that damage. It is still a mystery. Hope the new box remains OK. Also I am a bit apprehensive about my latest garden bed which is fairly close to the front footpath, although nothing in it should attract attention. I have placed branches to screen it a bit from the sun and wind.
