Tricky thing with grasses that are marginally hardy in our zones is to provide some winter protection that still maintains EXCELLENT DRAINAGE always, through winter and our wet springs. Muhly doesn't like to be disturbed unless it is dormant, say in early January. Here are some links to a garden blogger I follow in Tenn. zone 7a who has grown Muhly for years.
