We had our first official hard freeze of the season overnight (mid 20s). Had/have five Iris stalks in various stages of development, but only two viable enough to bring inside to open. One was the mistakenly identified Ahwahnee Princess. Turns out it is...TA DA!...

Daughter of Stars. Hurray! Now I have it in at least two places, but this location has had the prettier bloom. Doesn't show well in the photograph because the flash whitened it, but the color is a deep, rich, mostly solid purple. Lovey dubby

Disappointed that the Mariposa Skies and Fall Line stalks won't open, now; but particularly disappointed that the first ever stalk on Impressioni di Settembre won't open, either. Had really been looking forward to finally seeing a bloom. Shrug! Given the cold this morning, all the stalks not brought inside are going to end up as mush. Sad
Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Impressioni di Settembre')

Guess I shouldn't complain, though--we didn't have ice or snow and it will be 70 again by Sunday. Big Grin
It’s okay to not know all the answers.
