gasrocks said:I am a professional photographer. For about 35 years I took pix at Midwest fairs and festivals. Averaged about 40 parades a year, 3 state fairs and 30 county fairs. Lots and lots of small town festivals. I arranged my pix by subject. Loved watching people. One category was: these people must not own a mirror. Clothing, hair styles shoes, etc. Especially t-shirts - what they had printed on them and who was wearing it. Perhaps off topic but I remember one small county fair in southern Missouri. I was the only person there who was not related to someone else there. One pix I just had to get was a very large, broad woman bending over at the cow wash stand. Word spread quickly that there was a photographer present. After a while it was almost impossible to get candid pix. Anyways, one gentleman approached me and asked if I could send them some of the pix later. He was the fair chairman, president of the local bank. I agreed. Not sure why but when I selected pix to send them I included the woman bending over. Got a phone call a few days later thanking me profusely for the pix. He asked: did I remember the pix of the woman bending over? I hesitated and said yes. Damn he said, best pix I have ever seen of my wife. Gene

Now I had to send you an acorn too, Gene... when I first moved here to the UP (way, way back in 1971), the first thing I learned was to be very careful what I said about anyone because they were probably related to whoever I was talking to... (the 2nd thing I learned was that most of the "natives" all seem to have 2 or 3 nicknames, which makes it a whole lot harder to figure out who anyone is talking about)

I really love that story about the lady by the cow wash. Hilarious! (mostly I'm just glad it wasn't me)
