I am taking it one room at a time, along with a general 'spruce up' to the same room - retire tired artwork and accessories, repaint, declutter, deep clean. I look at this as a year-long project, and don't feel bad about interruptions for 'fun' stuff. So far we've done the laundry room and main bath, master bedroom is next.
