Lynn, it looks they are coming from the rosette.
I have many chicks outside and never pay close attention to them just try to keep them happy. These few I now have inside as more of experiment by having plants in the basement. I have been keeping a closer watch on as it too cold here to play outside.
I will keep a eye on them and see what happens.
