Hi Molly!
I usually keep my tulip bulbs in the fridge for 4-6 weeks to substitute the cold weather they need 'to activate' before planting them. I plant them in full sun, mid winter (it doesn't snow here) whilst they are growing, but was suggested to keep them safe from wind and sun to preserve the flower length once bloomed.
