I leave it on mommy plant and wait till it forms its own roots, and then cut it off. That way it has ready roots. Also I like seeing several of them cascading for awhile from mommy plant for awhile.
I grow mine outdoors year round, so when I am just quite lazy, I just put a container with soil below and let those dangling babies find their way there eventually.
