I think you need about 8 per tote, but I'd have to find the original instructions. You put the pots upside down in the bottom of each tote. This is like a water reservoir beneath the dirt layer. Anyway, I have lots of pots you can have. I tried to get to mine to see how many pots were in it, but there were too many other things back there in the "hospital."

When you're ready to set 'em up, come get the pots.
