Good job in spotting this! Isn't it a shame what people do? It is unconscionable in that they hurt millions of people.

Latest fraud is on the phone. Angry

I got a phone call later in the evening with someone panicked saying, "Hello. Grandma. I'm in (name of local) jail. Can you send me bail money.?" My response is "Well, considering I never had children in my life, I think you need to call YOUR Grandma or find a way to stay out of jail."

As a former Corrections Officer, I'll give you a heads up.

ANY call from a prison/jail will have an identifiable caller ID and number with the name available such as. ABC Correctional Institute. West County Jail, Sherriff's department, etc.

Also ANY call made from a prison/jail is usually a collect one to you and the phone call starts with a recorded announcement that states their name and name of facility and says to you, "You have a call from an inmate named Joe Smith at the ABC jail/prison. Will you accept the call from Joe Smith?" You can say 'yes' or 'no'.

If you get a person making this call live they will usually explain in great detail who they are, what the charges are. "This is Officer smith from ABC Jail, Your son Joe Smith was picked up for a DUI at such and such a time. He is requesting to speak to you." They personally will not tell you or ask you to pay bail. They'll will never insist or vehemently state "You MUST or HAVE TO pay."

So if you ever get this call don't fall for it.

I don't know how they seem to know the appropriate age group and where we ae living but they are targeting the group from 45 and older. Several of the middle age to older neighbors said they got the same call. None of our younger neighbors have.

But that's the latest.

As for Microsoft I ignore it. The phone calls I say, "Gee. That's funny considering I'm 84 and don't own a computer." or "That's odd! I've been blind since birth. I can't see to use a computer so I don't own one."

Pathetic what's going on. Sad too. It seems there are no more good people left in the world sometimes. Although we all know that isn't true it leaves a lingering feeling this is true.

Have a good day all.
