I learned this from PollyK. The "mother" is a bacterium for fermentation. I found it in the health food section of Fred Meyer and it is rather expense compared to plain vinegar. Still, I get a lot more gnats stuck on the sticky strip than in the vinegar. But I really want something to get any larva in lthe soil.

It's bad enough when it takes 3 years from seed to bloom for lilies then those buggers go and eat the root systems of the seedlings. Angry Sad .
