I just received a reply to a note I sent to Dave Evick this morning, asking about Zone of Illusion. Here is what the hybridizer says:
Larryr, Thanks for your inquiry, I did not name it Zone of Illusion because of its small applique throat. In 2010 there weren't many applique flowers and didn't think much about it. I named it for the watermark that surrounds the applique throat and I liked the name. I sold out and didn,t sell any for a few years. I now have a few to sell and appliques are popular so there seems to be some interest. I've been working on appliques in my hybridizing program and i will have some intros in the near future.
