Renee, the hollies were tall enough that I had to stand on a stepladder to trim them (I'm 5'1"), and so close to the house you couldn't get behind them to do any maintenance. I dug out five by hand, over the space of 2-3 months (I waited until fall, of course), and SOAKED that GA clay before starting to work on it. There were another 7 that my neighbor came over and ripped out for me with his F250 and a chain.
