@wcgypsy - Seeds from S.splendens seem to have a particularly short period of viability. I've sown some that I got from Robin Middleton a couple of years ago and none have germinated (so far) despite the same seed germinating like cress for the first couple of years. In contrast I sowed my own seed from last year at the same time and placed them next to the others and got 100% germination.
