Karen, even putting them in the ground can 'endanger' them and so I resorted to something that I could lift and swing when I want to access the semps. I bought a half round cage meant to enclose a tree trunk and just lined it with bird netting and placed it onto ground over the semps. Hubby put a couple of wood shims into ground to keep cage in one place when I grab it to swing back to open. This small piece of ground is what I resorted to putting the semps into that got too big for the 4 inch pots.
