Steve, I don't know for certain about its performance in shade, but Golden Fairy Tale has been a most vigorous performer for me on the north-east side of the house where I would consider partial shade. I've often found that a particularly vigorous variety will tolerate shade better than others. How many hours of direct sun would you estimate the area you have in mind gets in summer?
