So, I live in BFE. There's no trash service. We have to haul everything to the dump. I used to recycle everything. I mean everything! The county passed out some blue, plastic boxes to help sort out the recyclables. Aluminum, glass, paper, plastic.
After turning in my recyclables and getting a fifty cent discount on my ten dollar bill at the dump, and as I was driving away I looked in the rear view mirror. What I saw just dumbfounded me. I stopped and watched as everything I had so diligently separated to be recycled was dumped in a single truck. And that truck dumped everything in a big giant hole in the ground. That's when I learned that this poor county DOES NOT recycle.
I burn everything now ....
But those recycle bins they gave me have been recycled into planters.
This one is a little over grown. I just noticed the giant crack in it yesterday. So I'm thinking I'll go get some more and grow some carrots in them. Smiling
