Are your squash borers the 'pickle worm'?...goes into the flower to lay eggs and the whole flower end of the squash goes mushy? Try getting a solar light away from the garden that will go on at night and attract the moth that lays the eggs. Or/an rig a 3/4" bird netting over them.
It's all about choices.
