That sounds good. I use my homemade compost, coffee grinds (the good unused coffee) I have so much from my hotel stays.
I put mine in the pots in full sun for a year and keep them well watered. They usual triple in size. The development is fast with a lot of eyes. I get my leap year in two years instead of three yrs.
