I spent most of the morning treating huisache in the east pasture. It was easy to find; nothing else is green. We kill it with a basal spray of Remedy and diesel which probably sounds pretty radical to those of you who don't have huisache, mesquite, or black brush in your pastures. It annoys me to have anything inedible using any available moisture. On the up side: the animals have discovered that they can eat giant ragweed, pigweed, poison ivy and several other nuisance plants. That means, however, that I need to be on the lookout for the toxic ones.
The weather folks kept us hoping that tropical storm Lee would bring rain - which it did to excess in Louisiana - we got hot, dry wind.
