Name: Dr. Demento Jr.
Minnesota (Zone 3b)
It is located next a downspout with a dry well that sucks most of the water away quickly,, when the ground is not frozen.

One problem is in spring, the frozen ground lets the water sit there and some times there is ice.
Very sandy clay type soil, improved.
If I pour water, it is gone instantly.
I am going to try creating a ditch so the spring water runs off rather than stands.
They did better five years ago which is why it makes not sense as the area is better than it was, we can plant more items in there now than just Iris.
In this area Iris come up late, so maybe some of the stalks are carry overs and I am just impatient but I still have lost most them over the years.
I had two last year that were two year carry overs, if they are gone, this year, that is what makes it so frustrating.
