Donna--
I am glad you took the pregnant Onion. You seem the kind that loves odd plants.

It is not an exciting plant. There is NOTHING you ever have to do to it/with it.
No need to feed it--or water it...think of it as a Pony tail palm re the care it needs----
NONE!
It is a very s-l-o-w plant. The babies will form under Momas shell (looks like onion skin) and VERY slowly grow a tiny bit bigger. Like--2-3 years?
It may take a decade to reach the size that you now own.
FYI--these do make serious roots. I know because I have transplanted them and had to, literally, taks a sturdy, sharp knife to cut it all apart.
As you do this--the baby "peas" will be rolling all over. Believe me--each little "pea" WILL root! I have a pot-full of these babies growing. (???)
It has been about 3 years since I put them in the 6" pot. It just looks like a pot-full of coarse grass.
For them to grow to the size you mow have will take some years.
Did you Google this plant? Lots more pictures and info on the Preg. Onion.

Have fun...teeee-heee--- Gita
