Magic lilies have a lot of spring foliage which disappears in summer; scapes pop up around Aug. 1st (here) all by themselves. I don't know about through a heavy bed of ground cover sedum. I believe the scapes might have but little problem, I don't know about the spring leaves though.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.
