Daniel, I went to putting daylilies in giant containers like Donald has been doing. So far I am trying to grow some of my better daylilies in them. Then I moved the inground daylilies around the containers. Hopefully they get overflow watering and the containers help keep the ground cooler and moist. So far the container plants are doing better. I actually may have fan increases. Have to see what the summer brings. If you get a chance it would be great to see your layout.
On a side note I went and picked up 40 seedlings. I was told what to do for regular fan increases. Take one new fan from the outside of the plant. Put it in a container at least 18 inches diameter. Add 50/50 potting mix and compost, throw in some earthworms. On the top sprinkle time release fertilizer, fiiltered sunlight and water next year a clump.
She was adamant one fan per pot, she does get the increases. Although she lives in same area, my daughter pointed out it is 10 to 15 degrees cooler where she lives. Basically in an oak forest.
I still may try it. Your seedlings do look great! May God Bless Your Family.
