Being the critters are determined to eat all my earthworms and the roots to my daylilies in the process, I put stakes down to hold the cages in place. I only did that for the front two new rows where the critters love to dig the most.
I have some seedling just sprouting from seed I received from hemlady, and I added just a tiny bit of fertilizer, lime, and milorganite to each cup, and then watered them. Of course after rain being predicted for three days and not getting any, we are now getting a downpour. So far 19 out of 25 cups have seedlings.I chased a black snake out of my garden and into the field behind me, don't need any surprises when pulling rusty leaves.
. Edited to add photos of my little seedlings in their cups.
