Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum but I have a hydrangea issue.

I bought a Great Star hydrangea last year and planted it in my back yard. From then on it was down hill. the plant stated losing leaves and looked really terrible. As we got into Fall I cut the shrub back because it looked so poor. The plant did not come back out this Spring. I bought another Great Star last Saturday and brought it home and planted it in the same location that the one I lost was planted in. I amended the soil with bagged soil conditioner (looks like very fine pine bark mulch). As of today the base of the hydrangea is yellowing and I'm afraid that I'm going to lose this one also. The hydrangea will have been in the ground one week as of tomorrow. I have attached an image but I am not sure it is visible.

One thing that I would add to all of this is that I cut down and dug up a willow oak tree in the location where this and the first Great Star were/are planted. The tree was small enough for me to dig up the stump. It was not ground up but totally removed. Some roots probably are still there but not interfering physically with the hydrangea.

Should I move this bush or treat it with some kind of chemical/fertilizer/fungicide?

The bush gets direct sun from late morning until late evening.

Thanks for your help in advance.
