That is why I like the upright sedums. There is so much more one can do with them than with the low growing ones. I guess it is the way my garden is set up, the low growers just don't fit in here.

I really just manage to stumble upon combinations of plants that work together. What I do is decide what I want to grow in a certain space and then think of possible layouts until it comes together in my mind. Then I get the plants and plant.

I do love coneflowers also. They are a plant that attracts both butterflies and songbirds and I have my garden heavily planted with plants to attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and backyard songbirds. First the butterflies love the nectar then later I let the coneflowers go to seed. The Goldfinches come and absolutely love to eat those seeds.
